MANCHESTER – For 41 years, the Queen City has partnered with its sister city of Neustadt, Germany, for the MANEX German Exchange Program. With German students set to arrive later next month, the program remains in need of host families.
Memorial teacher and MANEX program coordinator Tara Michaud said that she is still seeking hosts for 11 students, noting that families can accommodate more than one exchange student. Host families must have a student at one of Manchester School District’s high schools, and be able to host a student from September 28 through October 16. Exchange students are 16-17 years old and will attend school with the host family’s student.
Michaud said students speak English and will have their own money – expectations are that host families provide:
A safe, clean, private area for the student to shower, get dressed
A place to sleep
Meals with the family, just as you'd cook for your own family, this student would eat with you as well
If you are interested in hosting a student, you can sign up using this form. If you have questions about the program, you can email Michaud at
