CONCORD – On Tuesday, the New Hampshire Department of Education announced the nominees for the state's 2024 Teacher of the Year. This year, a record 92 educators were nominated, including an astounding 28 teachers from Manchester School District.
The state Teacher of the Year process begins in the spring, with the Department of Education seeking nominations. Nominees must accept the nomination and complete an application to move forward with the process. A committee will narrow that group down to semi-finalists, who will make presentations this summer. In the fall, the committee will visit the finalists at their school, and a winner will be announced in October.
“We are extremely proud to see such a strong showing of our educators among nominees for 2024 Teacher of the Year,” said Superintendent of Schools Jennifer Gillis. “Our nominees cover all levels, from pre-kindergarten up through high school, and represent 16 different schools. This is truly a testament to the dedication of our staff, and we thank the families, staff and community members who brought forward these nominations.”
Gillis said the District is planning a special year-end event in collaboration with Manchester Proud to honor the 28 nominees. More information on that event is forthcoming. Here is the full list of Manchester School District nominees:
