School Wellness Council Meeting on Breakfast

posted Nov 8, 2017, 7:35 AM by Central Webmaster

On Tuesday, November 14 from 3:15-4:30 PM at MST High School, there will be a School Wellness Council meeting and training on increasing breakfast participation in schools. There is research that indicates the many benefits of eating breakfast at school even if the child has already had breakfast at home earlier that morning. Some schools have implemented Grab and Go breakfast or mobile breakfast carts in Manchester.

This year, Southside Middle School has been piloting a "Second Chance Breakfast" with great success. Southside compared sales for one week in October 2016  compared to one week in October 2017. The breakfasts served were 452 meals in October 2016 compared to 1230 meals in October 2017 representing 172% increase.

If you are able to attend, please RSVP to SueSheehy@aol.com or ssheehy@mansd.org. Please share the attached flyer with staff, parents or even students interested or post in the staff lounge.
