Wrestling for Warriors

This weekend was the 1st Annual Wrestling for Warriors Tournament at Manchester Central.  The Tournament was run by the Manchester Police Athletics League (MPAL) Gryphons Wrestling.  MPAL Gryphons Wrestling is run by Manchester Central Wrestling Coach Jason Cumming, Manchester Central Alum and Assistant Wrestling Coach Will Anctil, Bedford High School Assistant Wrestling Coach and Manchester West Alum Chris Como, and John Stark Regional High School Wrestling Coach John Widmann.  The tournament featured wrestlers from New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.  The tournament was a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project and raised just under $1000 for the cause. The event also was a food drive for the Liberty House Transistional Home for Veterans and raised 16 large boxes and bags full of canned and boxed non-perishable foods.

smitty's Wrestling Barn of Danville took home the Championship, defeating the MPAL Gryphons in the final 48-24.  Gate City Werstling Club of Nashua took third place after defeating Metrowest United of Framingham MA in the consolation finals. Wrestlers Way of Ellsworth, ME took 5th in the team standings after defeating the New England Warriors.  The tournament was round robin format to set up the pairings for the placing rounds.

The tournament featured New England, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont State Champions.
