PSAT on 10/10/18

posted by William Cannon

2018 PSAT is coming to Central

WEDNESDAY, October 10th

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMQST) is offered once a year.

The PSAT/NMSQT evaluates the skills you’ve developed in three academic areas: critical reading, mathematics and writing. But the PSAT/NMSQT is more than a test- it also provides the tools to reach your college goals.

JUNIORS should take the PSAT.

ALL SOPHOMORES will also be taking the PSAT at Central free of charge.

GOOD REASONS FOR TAKING THE PSAT:

  • Preparation for the SAT. The test uses similar questions and formats.

  • Qualify for National Merit Scholarship. (for Juniors only)

  • Receive feedback on your academic strengths and weaknesses and skills for college study. You can then focus your preparation on those areas that need the most attention.

  • Compare scores with other college bound students around the country.

  • Forecast SAT scores.

  • Receive information from colleges when you check “Yes” to the students search service.

  • Use “My college Quickstart” to plan ahead for college career and to receive a customized SAT practice test.

What to do:

Juniors must sign up and pay for the test prior to test day with your US History teacher. The $25.00 fee is payable by CASH, check or fee waiver.* (if you use a check make it out to Central High School.) Sophomores do NOT need to sign up.

*Fee waivers are available to Juniors who qualify for free and/or reduced lunch and other comparable programs. See your counselor to register with a fee waiver

On Test Day Bring:

  1. 2 Number 2 pencils

  2. an approved calculator

  3. your email address
